Lead Operator: Network Operations

  • Permanent position (flexible)
  • Geelong location

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed person with a strong technical aptitude to join our Network Operations team.

To be eligible for this role you will need strong technical trade or operational experience in processing, manufacturing utilities, in an industrial or similar environment. While water industry experience would be an advantage, we will support the successful candidate to obtain a certificate III in water industry operations.

This hands-on role is accountable for the efficient operation of Barwon Water’s central Geelong water (raw, potable and recycled) and sewer networks. You will be responsible for implementing system improvements and operating, monitoring and maintaining infrastructure such as pumping stations, pipelines, valves, basins, tanks and chemical dosing facilities.

With excellent organisational skills, you demonstrate true leadership qualities and have the ability to influence and engage others. Working as part of a team, you can also work autonomously, contributing to overall goals. You will also bring outstanding communication skills, strong computer skills and an ability for learning and using new technologies.

We are looking for someone who is safety focused, motivated and able to work according to operating procedures while proactively identifying problems and developing innovative solutions. Ideally you will have a trade background in plumbing, mechanical or similar, teamed with a good understanding of water infrastructure and hydraulics.

The successful applicant is required to participate in an on-call roster system and respond to out of hours incidents or events. Barwon Water is prepared to consider flexible work arrangements for this role, including part-time work.

A Victorian driver licence is required.

Project Manager

  • Permanent position (flexible)

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to support multiple projects throughout the project life cycle. The role is responsible for delivering projects and providing technical advice within our Infrastructure Delivery team.

With emphasis on safe, cost-effective and timely project delivery, you will encapsulate the project delivery process from design development and approval through to implementation and close out.

Working collaboratively across the organisation, you will engage relevant stakeholders and assist with prioritisation and planning to deliver operational excellence.

Customer-oriented, you have a strong commercial mindset and excellent communication skills. You blend this expertise with superior organisational skills and leadership qualities.

With a degree or higher in engineering, your work experience includes engineering expertise in civil, environmental, mechanical or similar. Having worked across most relevant sectors (utilities, infrastructure or water services) as a Project Manager you have the ability to apply sound knowledge to our complex infrastructure network.
