Barwon Water is continuing to investigate repair options for the damaged sewer pipe beneath the Anglesea River.
Corporation personnel were on site today inspecting ground conditions and alignments before deciding on the best repair method.
Barwon Water's General Manager Water Systems Carl Bicknell said a decision was expected this week and work would begin as soon as possible.
Boring and installing a new pipe under the river or inserting a flexible sleeve inside the existing pipe remained the best options, he said.
Sewage from west Anglesea will continue to be trucked to the water reclamation plant and recycled water stored at Aireys Inlet. There is no disruption to customer service.
The pipe was shut down on Monday, August 8, after a leak was detected.
An attempt was made to repair the damaged 12 cm section last week, but failed.
Mr Bicknell said conditions on the ground and in the river were extremely difficult, but the pipe was expected to be back in service well before summer.
