Sustainable Home and Garden Expo

Media release issued Friday 18 February 2011

Barwon Water will host its second annual Sustainable Home and Garden Expo on March 12 and 13.

The free expo will feature more than 55 exhibitors covering indoor and outdoor living, water and energy conservation and waste management, as well as demonstrations, workshops and family entertainment.

Barwon Water Managing Director Michael Malouf said the corporation was committed to improving and encouraging liveability in the greater Geelong region.

He said more than 12,000 visitors attended last year's expo and saw how easy it could be to take the first steps toward a more environmentally-friendly home and lifestyle.

"The expo will provide visitors with inspiration and ideas on how to create a sustainable living environment," Mr Malouf said.

"It is an opportunity for people to gain knowledge and advice on practical measures to improve their homes and gardens."

Jane Edmanson (Gardening Australia and 3AW presenter) and Vasili Kanidiadis (host of Channel 31's Vasili's Garden) will be among the guest speakers. Geelong identity Denis Walter and Channel Nine personality Livinia Nixon will host the expo.

The Sustainable Home and Garden Expo will be held at Steampacket Gardens on the waterfront on Saturday, March 12, and Sunday, March 13, from 10am to 4pm.

The expo is sponsored by Alcoa Australia, Warralily, GHD, the Building Commission of Victoria, the City of Greater Geelong, John Holland and the Geelong Advertiser.
