Excellent winter and spring rainfall has enabled Barwon Water to rest the Barwon Downs borefield for the first time in 4 years.
The healthy state of our water storages, now at their highest level since November 2002, can also be attributed to our new water sources, including the Anglesea borefield, and strong community awareness of water conservation.
The Barwon Downs aquifer has been tapped during times of drought since it was first commissioned in 1982.
Pumping from the underground water supply at Barwon Downs most recently began in April 2006.
The last day of pumping water was 11 August 2010.
