While this week's significant rainfall has had a positive impact on storage levels, it has also placed stress on our sewerage system.
Heavy falls across the region from Apollo Bay to Lara have caused a number of sewage overflows due to large volumes of water entering the system.
Barwon Water crews have been working hard to minimise the impacts of overflows on customers and the environment.
Customers are advised to avoid swimming in or near stormwater drains, creeks, rivers or where they meet the ocean.
About 125 mm of rain has fallen in the West Barwon catchment and 210 mm in the Moorabool catchment since Monday (12 January).
Storages have increased from 72% to 74.4%, with a further increase expected as run-off enters the reservoirs in the coming days.
