Rebates for water-wise products

Small businesses (≤50 employees)

Under the Victorian Government's Living Victoria water Rebate program, eligible small businesses can now claim up to 50% of the cost of eligible water-wise products (up to a maximum rebate of $2000).

The rebate scheme is administered by Barwon Water on behalf of the state government.

Rebates extended for 2012–2015

The Victorian Government Living Victoria Water Rebate Program has been extended until 30 June 2015.

Under the latest phase of the program:

  • Small businesses up to 50 employees (previously 20) are now eligible.
  • Businesses can now make multiple claims (previously one) up to the maximum rebate.

 

Eligibility

To be eligible for the rebates, your business must:

  • be connected to Barwon Water's supply network
  • be charged business/commercial tariffs
  • have 50 employees or less
  • have an Australian Business number (ABN).

 

Claiming a rebate

Your business can claim up to 50% of the cost of eligible products, up to a maximum rebate of $2000.

All products must be purchased and installed between 1 July 2011 — 30 June 2015.

You may make one or multiple claims, which may include any number of water-wise products, up to the maximum rebate.

You must lodge your claim(s) by 30 September 2015.

To claim your rebate, please complete the "Living Victoria Water Rebate Program" small business application for rebate form.

Don't forget to attach proof of purchase(eg: a receipt), proof of installation (eg: plumber's invoice, where applicable) and PIC certificate (Plumbing Industry Certificate of compliance, where applicable) to your claim.

Your claim will be paid as a credit on your Barwon Water bill, or you can request payment by EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer).

 


 

Rainwater tanks

  • For one or more rainwater tanks with total capacity of 2000 litres or more.
  • Rainwater tank(s) must be connected to a toilet, laundry or other business process requiring year-round water use.
  • Tanks must be designed and manufactured to Australian Standards.
  • Rainwater tanks must be installed by a licenced plumber. A Plumbing Industry Certificate (PIC) of compliance is required if the combined cost of product and labour exceeds $750.

 

Rainwater-to-mains switching systems

  • A device that automatically switches from a rainwater tank to mains water supply when the tank is low/empty.
  • Switching systems must be installed by a licenced plumber. A Plumbing Industry Certificate (PIC) of compliance is required if the combined cost of product and labour exceeds $750.

 

Permanent greywater treatment systems

  • Eligible greywater systems must be approved by EPA Victoria.
  • Permanent greywater systems must be installed by a licenced plumber. A Plumbing Industry Certificate (PIC) of compliance is required if the combined cost of product and labour exceeds $750.

Toilets: dual-flush

  • Eligible toilets must have at least a 3-star water rating.
  • Rebate is only for the replacement of existing toilet(s).
  • Toiltes must be installed by a licenced plumber. A Plumbing Industry Certificate (PIC) of compliance is required if the combined cost of product and labour exceeds $750.

Urinals

  • Eligible urinals must be waterless, or have a 5-star water rating.
  • Rebate is only for replacing existing urinal(s).
  • Urinals must be installed by a licenced plumber. A Plumbing Industry Certificate (PIC) of compliance is required if the combined cost of product and labour exceeds $750.

Mains-connected toilet flush valve

  • For the upgrade of a flush valve to an existing toilet to provide an equivalent 6/3 litres per flush (6 litres or less full-flush, 3 litres or less half-flush).

 

Showerheads

  • Eligible showerheads must use 9 litres per minute or less, and have a 3-star water rating or better.

Shower timers and automatic shut-off valves

  • Rebates available for products that shut off showers or other water-using devices at a pre-set time, or after a pre-set length of time.

 

Waterless wok stove

  • For replacing an existing wok stove with a waterless wok stove.

 

Glass washers

  • Eligible glass washers must recycle rinse water, and must conform to the standards referenced in the Australian food industry.
  • Rebate is only for replacing existing glass washer(s).

 

Dishwashers

  • Eligible dishwashers must have a 4-star water rating or better.
  • Must conform to the standards referenced in the Australian food industry.
  • Rebate is only for replacing existing dishwasher(s).

  • Domestic type: must have at least a 5-star water rating and at least a 4-star energy rating.
  • Commercial/industrial type: must be front-loader with an inverter (rather than a twin motor).
  • Rebate is only for replacing existing washing machine(s).

Pool covers

  • Must be purchased with a roller/reel to assist covering/uncovering the pool
  • Must be approved with the Smart Approved WaterMark.
  • Must be UV stabilised and at least 400 microns (0.4 mm) thick.

Pre-rinse nozzles / spray guns

  • Eligible spray nozzles must use 6 litres per minute or less, and have a 6-star water rating.
  • Rebate is only for replacing existing pre-rinse nozzle(s).

High pressure water cleaners

  • Eligible commercial high pressure water cleaners must use 9 litres per minute or less.

 

Hand-held rinse sprays

  • For nozzles or devices used to rinse a product or a client (eg: for hairdressing).
  • Must use 9 litres per minute or less.
  • Rebate is only for replacing existing sprayer(s) or nozzle(s).

 

Data loggers and check meters

  • For data loggers or check meters that monitor water use within your business or a section of your business.

 

Flow control devices

  • For flow control devices that restrict water flow to 9 litres per minute or less.

 

Hot water recirculators

  • For devices that save cold water in hot water pipes by diverting it back to the hot water system.

 

Ozone laundry systems

  • For laundry systems using ozone technology.
  • Must meet AS/NZ 4146:2000 for disinfection.
  • Must include a failsafe shut-off.

 

Condensate recovery systems

  • For replacing an existing or faulty condensate recovery system with a more efficient one.

 

Process water reuse

  • A solution to re-use process water.
  • Must provide a risk assessment and meet Australian water reuse and EPA guidleines.
  • Businesses must contact Barwon Water before implementing a process water reuse solution.

 

Combi-steamers

  • For replacing an existing combi-steamer with a water efficient one.
