The Victorian Government Schools Water Efficiency Program (SWEP) can help your school cut water use, saving water, energy, money and the environment.
Help your school save water and money.
SWEP is a school water audit and retrofit program in five stages:
An accredited auditor will visit your school and test all taps, toilets and water appliances.
They will examine your past water use using data from us.
You'll receive a priority list of recommendations for reducing water use, and estimated savings, costs and pay back time.
A detailed report will also outline other options for water saving.
A licenced plumber will installing the identified water saving measures such as tap aerators, flow control devices or dual-flush toilets.
Payment can be made in one lump sum or in installments on your water bill.
A payment-by-savings plan is based on the projected savings on your water and energy bills.
All schools who have undertaken the SWEP audit and retrofit receive official recognition as a water saver school, including a sign for the school grounds.
Barwon Heads Primary School is a small government primary school on the Bellarine Peninsula.
Through the SWEP program, the school identified annual savings of around 300 kilolitres, or 17%.
The total cost of the retrofit was less than $1000, and had paid for itself in less than 2 years.
“A quick audit followed by the implementation of simple and effective devices has saved us lots of water. It was so easy I can't believe we hadn't done it earlier. And the extra recommendations gave us a clear path to follow for us ti continue with further installations and make further water savings.” Peter Crossett, Principal
